The Rebuilding Of The Jewish Temple

On a day when Jews mourn the destruction of the Temple almost 2,000 years ago, the Temple Institute made a giant step towards the rebuilding of the Temple by beginning to rebuild the sacrificial altar. The sacrificial altar is the location in the Temple where the Jews once offered sacrifices to the Lord, but there have been no sacrifices made since 70 A.D. when the Roman army destroyed both Jerusalem and the Temple.

It is difficult to understate the significance of the rebuilding of the sacrificial altar. You see, the sacrificial altar was the center of Temple worship. It was located near the center of the Temple, and upon that altar the priests would offer the numerous sacrifices that are commanded in the Torah.

The Temple Institute has previously rebuilt many of the other required instruments and vessels for the Temple, but rebuilding the sacrificial altar represents another huge leap forward in their goal.

Of course the Temple Institute is not able to rebuild the sacrificial altar in its proper location on the Temple Mount, so they are building it off site and will transport it to the Temple when it is rebuilt in the future.

The rocks for the sacrificial altar were gathered from the area around the Dead Sea and they were individually wrapped in order to ensure that they are not touched by metal as the Torah requires.

For students of Bible prophecy, this development is very exciting because it represents another huge step towards the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem as the Scriptures foretell.

In fact, the Bible tells us that one day the Antichrist will set himself up in God’s Temple and proclaim himself to be God. Just read what it says in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4…..

Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for (that day will not come) until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

But should the Temple Institute be doing this? Should anyone be trying to rebuild the Temple without direct instructions from the Lord?

We know that it WILL be rebuilt, but is it proper for them to be doing it right now? After all, the first two Temples were only built after the Lord gave direct instructions that they be built.

Since the Lord has not directed anybody to rebuild the temple, it is then obvious to me why the Anti-Christ could enter and proclaim.

Hm, not sure…maybe God just knew it would be rebuilt without His command..after all, we don’t actually need a physical temple now, as Christ is our sacrifice.

As Barbara infers, we do not actually know that The Lord God has not instructed one or more of these Jews to do this. In any case sometimes the Lord uses people by softening their hearts to do things which are His will, and they are not even aware of it. God manipulates things and people which and whom He has created to do what He has planned.

In any case it is difficult to see how the temple itself will be rebuilt and the daily sacrifice recommenced without some sort of major war against Islam, since The Dome of the Rock is built right over the Holiest of Holies location. This may be what the time when “Jerusalem is surrounded by armies” stated by Jesus refers to, meaning Islam and its allies such as Russia?

i would conclude that god has not instructed anyone to rebuild a temple and as such should not be rebuilt as it is a presumptuous act – indeed it was the lord who arranged for its destruction – let no man put together what the lord has rent asunder….as we know it will become a failed project….i believe that the temple institute would have spoken of a divine revelation by now…

nonetheless the rebuilt temple is a fact of prophecy and will stand again by hook or by crook…

I believe that God may not speak to anyone with instructions to rebuild either the temple or the alter. The reason being,even though it is prophecy, you might look at it at as a sort of rebellion – in that Jesus isn’t being looked to for salvation, but the offerings of animals. Therefore, even though it must be done in order that God’s will be fulfilled, it may not be as it was in times past…

The Dome Of Rock is NOT build over the place of Holy Of The Holies. This is because they chose the wrong rock to build the temple on. The Place where the Temple was located is under what they call “The Dome Of Tablets, which is essentially only a ruin of a mosque

I also can see a possible development of this scenario: The Muslims in Syria will attempt to attack Israel and Israel will strike them with a nuke, destroying Damascus. This will scare Muslems to the point that they will exchange the Dome Of Tablets for peace with Israel. Israel will then rebuild the temple.

I don’t believe that God has spoken to those responsible for rebuilding the Temple. He made it quite plain that we, the Body of Messiah are His Temple now. Our sacrificial Lamb has been sacrificed on the altar of the Cross for all mankind – past and present. Yes, a temple will stand, but it will be that of the anti-christ.

build his Temple! We spend too little time doing what G-D wants us to do, and too much time worrying About “WHAT TIME IT IS”.

I have a strong suspicion that when Messiah returns on the Day of the Wrath of God and Israel returns to the Lord because of the spirit of grace and supplication poured out on Jerusalem, (Zechariah 12:10) Messiah Himself will build the Temple (of Ezekiel), the Millenial Temple. Probably in three days, which would be a further fulfilment of the word He spoke when He said ‘Destroy this Temple and in three days I will raise it up”, John 2:19. He was primarily referring to His death and resurrection,(because He is the Temple of God) which is why followers of Jesus/Yeshua no longer need sacred buildings to worship Him in – we are the Temple of God (the Body of Messiah) in this age.

Jesus said He will be sending prophets. Read the letters Timothy writes that God intends for our generation. Rapture is so close it can be any day now. But it will not exceed the later days of 2011. The Lord wants us to search out for these signs of the end times. You see them all around you. So why deny a prophet that does do the will of God when you have the end staring you in the face.

I think this is a great idea,however the temple must be built in accordance with the temple in Ezekiel.Also call me crazy (which most do),but the temple mount is not the true location of the final temple.There is simply not enough land to build such a temple there.I know the true location of the temple.It is given in the old testament and has been right under our noses for ever.Most children know of the location and don’t even know it!!!I have also been researching the old testament for some years now,and have discovered a direct link to old testament altars built and prophetical land boundaries.But of course,when any kingdom is set up,its boundaries must be layed out!Man just does not have the ability to fathom this kind of kingdom…yet! But this kingdom has been being built since Abraham!

I have been very interested in Bible prophecy and the last days ever since i became a Christian. I recently found this article and i find the rebuilding of the temple very interesting. I wanted to give some food for thought to consider on this subject of when the temple will be rebuilt. This is just a thought i have pondered for some time now. When the first temple was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar the prophet Daniel tells us in Daniel 9 that he had read from the book of Jeremiah how that the Lord was going to allow this to happen and that 70 years later they would return to their land and rebuild the temple and this of course happened. Then, we read in Matthew 24 where Christ prophesied of the temple being destroyed yet a second time. This of course happened as well. What i find interesting is that this happened in the year 70 a.d. It seems that we have 2 seventy year periods that God dealt with Israel and the temple. In 1948 Israel became a nation again. Could there be a connection here? If the Lord’s time clock follows suit could we see a rebuilding of the third Jewish temple at the 70 year anniversary of Israel’s rebirth? If so that would put us in the year 2018 as a possibility. Could it be that 2018 is the year of this great prophecy of the scriptures?….something to think about for sure…God bless

Those dear Jews who do not believe in Messiah Jesus YET as the once for all sacrifice for sins, don’t know anything different but to bring back animal sacrifices for sin. They think that they are doing God a service as others did before them. In doing so they will fulfill God’s word about many things. They do so willingly.
