Buddha was a wise man so why not honour him with a statue.

If you or anyone has a problem with this art statue, and are fearful that it is a “threat” to your personal belief or religion, …then you do NOT have much faith in your own beliefs. You are insecure in your own religion if you fear this statue. Do you ALSO apply your same denouncing of “idols” rhetoric toward the enormous statue of Jesus with arms outstretched over the city of Rio de Janeiro?
That too is a work of art. Nothing more.
What if the S.F. artist had decided do a large statue just like the one in Rio de Janeiro?? WOULD YOU STILL BE INTIMIDATED??
Your own “fears” have now become the very *idols within your own mind* of which are making you so uncomfortable. Look within yourselves, why are you so insecure with your on faith?? Your fears have become your idols, and to fear your inner self is illogical. I do not believe your God would be intimidated by a statue of Buddha, and therefore, nor should you.

In the Scriptures, we find that God severely denounces idols all the way from Genesis to Revelation. It doesn’t matter if you worship the giant Buddha or not. Any idol is an abomination in the eyes of God. In fact, we are told in Revelation 9:20 that there will still be widespread idolatry in the last days…. you are referring to YOUR BELIEF, not everyone’s. get over yourself
